Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.

What is the Journey Forward Retreat?

This custom, one-day retreat is designed to inspire and renew up to 30 like-minded individuals currently navigating their grief journey from the loss of someone special. It is also open to anyone who is part of a support system for a friend or family member experiencing loss as well. The Journey Forward Retreat's goal is to help you better understand the grief process while providing tools to navigate your grief in a more positive manner.

This all-day event will offer a gentle balance of learning through shared grief experiences, growing with the help of tools and best practices offered by our speakers, and connecting via interactive and dynamic expression from each person in attendance. Today we will celebrate your person and guide your expectations for the next steps forward.

Additional small group breakout sessions throughout the day will offer one-on-one opportunities to build relationships and share detailed concerns to help you on your journey forward with your loss.

Retreat Details

Upon your arrival, you will be guided to the retreat space where you will sign in and begin to enjoy morning pastries, assorted fruit, coffee, orange juice, and water. All attendees are encouraged to mingle, introduce themselves, and start creating new connections as this day will be filled with sharing stories and building a sense of community.

Beginning at 9:00am your host, Tim Bigonia, will welcome participants, set expectations for the day, and share his story of how he came to create the Journey Forward Retreat

Beyond our guest speakers, it's important to know there will be smaller breakout sessions introduced throughout the day, encouraging all participants to discuss in detail new concepts recently discussed. Exercises geared toward confidence building, storytelling, and personal growth will be shared, helping to break down walls and lift your spirit on this challenging journey. Lunch will be provided mid-day with an assortment of croissant sandwiches or wraps, along with a garden salad, drinks, snacks, and a sweet treat to help prepare you for an inspiring afternoon.

Interactivity will be a common thread throughout this retreat. Sharing issues, concerns, and struggles we all have when dealing with our grief will come to the forefront to be examined and hopefully redefined. Understanding how we grieve and why we grieve will allow us to do so in a much better way. We will strive to be able to grow as we share, move forward as we grieve, and build confidence as we define the new road ahead. Together, we will build from each other's experiences and strengthen our resolve along the way.

About the Journey to Grateful Podcast

Through the loss of my wife to cancer, I’ve come to understand the most valuable asset my family and friends possess is the ability to lift me up when I’ve needed it most with the simplest of gestures. There is no perfect formula to help someone grieve. Being there to listen and provid a slice of normal is often exactly what is needed. In addition, it’s hard for some people to know and understand what their grieving friend is experiencing every day. The most difficult task for those on the outside is understanding that many facets of loss are present almost every single day.

The Journey to Grateful podcast is focused on helping people better understand grief and demystify its common assumptions in today's society. Through discussions based in experience, my guests and blog contributors bare their souls to help provide guideposts along the path of grief for others. Together we can all better understand the process of loss with the help of those who are living it.

Thank you for considering the Journey Forward Retreat and for supporting the Journey to Grateful podcast!
